Sarasota and Siesta Key…..There is no place quite like it! Soft, sandy beaches and bright blue waters combine with a sophisticated affluence and intelligent vibe to make Sarasota the gem of Florida's south west coast. Paradise…. …Siesta Key’s sand tops the list for the whole of North America in the category “Best Sand” and “Best Beaches in the USA”. Siesta Key, 5 minutes from our lovely refurbished 2 storey town house condo offers three very different kinds of beaches. The public beach, Siesta Beach is broad and flat with free parking. It is made up of fine pure “sugar white” sand. This is the most popular of all the beaches on Siesta Key and has tennis courts, concession stands, life guards, picnic tables and a playground for children. Crescent Beach the closest to our home and our favorite is located just south of Siesta Beach and also boasts the same best sand. It has a very distinctive feature, unusual for South West Florida; the “Point of Rocks”; a shallow formation of lime rock rising out of the water making a great spot for snorkeling. Southern most, and at the tip of Siesta key is Turtle Beach, a great spot to get away from the crowds, to go for a long walk, shelling or just relaxing in the calm breezes of the Gulf of Mexico. All the beaches other best feature are crystal clear blue, turquoise warm waters with the most spectacular of sunsets. Nowhere else in the world can one witness the amazing explosion of vibrant blues, pinks, yellows, oranges and even emerald green as the sun slowly sinks away into the ocean. One of Sarasotas’favorite creatures is the bottle-nosed dolphin together with wild life everywhere, from Turtles to Eagles, Osprey, Spoonbills and Herons,Racoons and waters teeming with a whole range of game fish. Nature surrounds with a state park, a recreation area, botanical gardens and even a wild bird sanctuary. Acknowledged as a cultural centre, Sarasota is burgeoning with artist colonies, galleries, museums, opera, theatre and many other performing arts companies. Two miles north of downtown Sarasota is the Ringling Museum which is a circus museum and art gallery rolled into one. For gardening enthusiasts, a trip to Marie Selby Botanical Gardens with its' 20 individual gardens is a must. Golf is popular in Sarasota and there are more than 30 courses within minutes of downtown including a challenging Arthur Hills designed golf course. A shoppers paradise with high quality shopping malls, factory outlets and craft shops just minutes from where you are located and for European visitors at prices well below those you will find at home.
